Forced into Creativity
It may not be the most appealing cake you've ever seen, but it was prepared with much love & everyone enjoyed it reagrdless. I enjoyed it even more knowing all the trials & tribulations associated with it's creation!
I wanted to bake this cake from scratch... in hopes of saving some cash. Babygirl wanted to help, so I allowed her to stand on a chair & crack eggs into the batter. Of course at this point while it's mixing Poodawooda comes running into the kitchen... bumping into the chair Babygirl is standing on.... & in hopes of breaking her fall she grabs the bowl with the cake batter! I did manage to save most of it from going on the floor, but it was a big mess anyway. Add more flour & an egg to make up for the loss & bake as normal.... & now I try to keep the kids out of the kitchen alltogther. The layers have baked & are now cooling on the kitchen counter, so I go give them a bath. After Pooda is dried off & dressed in PJ's I go back to take care of Babygirl... leaving the cakes unguarded! In :30 the boy pulled 1 layer toward him & started eating! Now I have 1 perfect circle layer & 1 which sort of looks like Pac-man. What I did was take a cereal bowl on top of that layer & cut away the eaten part, then put that in a smaller salad bowl. After freezing over-night it became a 3rd layer. Now after frosting all 3 layers in chocolate frosting it looks like a big dirt/mud pile to me. Even muddier after I left it on the counter & the A/C was not turned on. Didn't know frosting could melt at room temp. when the house get's that hot!! So that gave me the perfect canvas to make his tribute to "Bob the Builder" birthday cake! I think the next birthday cake will be a simple sheet!
