Make that Change!

What's going through this sistah's head (and around her head!) on a daily basis?

Boy I can't wait!!

I didn't report it, but we had a death in the family recently. It's sad when the family only gets together for sad events like a funeral, or just for a wedding or planned reunion. I would like to see us get together for a nice holiday as well!
Anyway....it gave me the opportunity to see the cousins that inspired me to go natural in the 1st place!
We didn't have any discussions about it really. I just liked what I saw when I saw their hair years ago, so I stopped using the creamy crack. Then in 2003 I saw this cousin that had locs! OH WOW! I always thought it was strange that in a Jamaican family there was not 1 person wearing locs. Was it somehow forbidden? Well seeing this well known older cousin wearing them (& BLONDE ONES on top of that!!) told me that it was ok & I started researching how to start my locs pretty soon after I got home.
It's been about 3 years since I last saw her. I was pretty amazed how long her locs are now...& I can't wait to see if my hair grows so much after only 3 years of loc-dom!
Oh, & yes that is a Brunsli tie I put in her head! If you get a new order from NY or Jersey it's cuz of ME! lol

This is the 1st tie I really... I don't want to say fell in love with cuz love is such a strong word & emotion... but I had to have it. It's called the "Bleu". Blue & Black are the primary colors I wear ( besides Pink) so I thought this would be perfect for me!

Talk about invisible support!!

I just made the switch from the original blogger to this new-no-longer-beta blogger. Somehow I just now found all the comments that had been left for me since April, 2006. Man, I feel sort of like "DUH!!". I got a blog & don't even know how to get the comments posted! lol. Leave it to me to find the sunshine in my stupidity... there are people in this world still living without caller ID & Call waiting on their phone, at least I have a blog...right?
Thank you all for all the support you gave me during my many rough times in the past year. I must have felt that support in other ways. I knew it was there...I just didn't KNOW it was there! lol
More pics to come!

5 Things ....

5 Things I'm ALLOWING You to Know About Me:

  1. I'm a working mom of 2-4 children, depending how you look at it. 2 kids I gave birth to, 1 kid I married 10 years ago (who doesn't want his photo posted), & 1 baby I'm in the process of adopting :)
  2. I'm a former ferret lady....I owned up to 3 ferrets at once earlier in my life. If I ever find the pictures I had of me w/one of them I'll post it.
  3. I love to sing.... but can't! You'll never see me trying out for American Idol, but if there's a karioke contest somewhere when I'm with friends....watch out! I love music & I love to sing along, but I just don't have that Beyonce voice, KWIM?
  4. I was the SERIOUS tomboy when I was younger. A boy once made fun of me for playing football.... & I smacked his head on the lunchroom table for it. That was the 1st time I even noticed anyone having a problem w/ me not being all 'lady-like' & girly. Funny how now 20 years later one of my favorite colors is finally PINK.
  5. I am somewhat musically inclined. I studied Suzuki Piano from age 6 til I don't remember. I never got to Carnegie Hall though....

I don't think there are many other people left to be tagged! Some of you may be tagged more than once by now....

Tra

Ally

Vee

Brunsli

Leighann..... have at it girls.... I'm gone to go watch the Superbowl. I'd say GO BEARS cuz I'm from Chicago, but I love Tony Dungy as well.... I'm just looking forward to the 1/2time show w/PRINCE!!!

My new Baby!

Brand spanking new ( to me) & I just couldn't wait to show him off! 1 blue eye, 1 brown, Shar-pei/Lab mix. Still taking nominations on names...of course the real name chosen will probably never get posted, but lets have fun w/alternative names anyway.
Oh...and earlier last week I recieved an email from someone that basically told me to keep my head up...I'm not the only one going through trials & tribulations & such. To that reader I say THANK YOU! It is not only nice to know that I have other people besides my sister that reads my sporatic blog on a regular basis, but that this stranger took time to respond & attempt to lift my spirits at a time when I was really feeling low. That really helped me.
And the locs? Like I said, scissors became involved & got to snipping away at those ends that Brunsli told me would not loc. The loctician I saw last month said the same thing... so I figured "What am I holding on to them for" & started cutting them loose curly-ques off.

Here you can see 2 of the Brunsli-ties I bought myself for Christmas! I'm really loving the one on the right....not sure of the name of it though. White bone with a blue circle thingy.... Help me out Brunsli.
I also think the picture is deceptive...my hair is not really that long, but it looks great-don't it!

UPDATE: Yes, we've chosen a name...and he's so dog-gone cute I've decided to blog about him & his growth as well. Especially since I've been told he's gonna be a BIG dog. You can check out his progress at http://datderchau.blogspot.com/
